We have a trajectory of more than 40 years. We were pioneers in the manufacture of aquariums. We are official representatives of the most important international brands. We distribute our products to large retail chains and specialized stores in Chile and Peru.

How did the company start?

AQUAMUNDO, formerly known as Mario Mora Aquariums, was named after the company's founder, who started the business from scratch more than 40 years ago. And although in the beginning they stood out for the handcrafted manufacture of aquariums and the breeding of ornamental fish, with the passage of time, they not only became indispensable in every specialized aquarium store, but also in pet stores. Thus, approximately 25 years ago, the first international brand representation was obtained in Chile and with it, the first importation of fish products. The Tetra brand from Germany entered the country, which we still represent to this day and which accompanies us.

Several years have passed since the family joined the business. With that, the changes began: new brands joined the company, not only in the fish industry, but also in the pet industry. So, we decided to look for a name that would group all the brands represented, to stop emphasizing just one area. At that point, the whole team of the company got together to find a new name that would represent the vision we had. After brainstorming, we came to the conclusion to relaunch the company under the name Grupo MOR, and today it is the brand that sustains AQUAMUNDO and the rest of its representations.

It should be noted that the "MO" in Grupo MOR refers to the two surnames of the family: "Mora Moya", while the "R" gives consistency to the first surname of the founder. The acronym "MOR" stands for "Marks Oriented to Responsibility", both animal and social.

Our history

Mario Mora Parra, today director of Grupo MOR, started with the business of manufacturing and selling aquariums and fish in the seventies. Little by little, the commercialization of these products was distributed to different pet stores, which generated more and more customers. Thus, what at the beginning seemed to be a hobby, grew month by month. And when he could no longer fulfill so many orders on his own, he hired assistants.

Thanks to its long trajectory in the world of fish, Mario Mora Aquariums obtained the exclusive representation of the German brand Tetra in Chile, back in 1995. And what before was only a factory, began to import, market and distribute Tetra products to all customers in Chile.

With fish food in its catalog, and with a portfolio of more than three hundred customers, in 1997, the company started selling its products in the national chain "Líder", offering a mix in all the halls of the country.

At the end of the nineties, the company was invited to build and maintain the largest private aquarium in Chile, located inside the Buin Zoo, which completed its construction and inauguration in 2000, baptizing it as "Aquamundo Aquarium".

In 2001 the company changed its name from "Mario Mora Aquariums" to AQUAMUNDO, becoming the largest company in Chile dedicated to aquariums, with more than thirty-five people in charge at that time. With the market consolidated, AQUAMUNDO is invited to make modules of aquariums and exotic species, as well as to sell its products in the rooms of SODIMAC, a project that reached fourteen rooms.

2007 - 2014

At the beginning of 2008, Mario Mora Parra, invited his son, Mario Mora Moya, who today is General Manager of Grupo MOR, to be part of the business. He began to do productive work in the manufacturing, warehouse and logistics areas of the company.

The incorporation of the family to AQUAMUNDO made that in mid 2008 the Dingo brand was imported to Chile, changing the orientation of the company to the pet business. In 2009, the company took over the official representation in Chile of the American Holding United Pet Group.

What is now known as Spectrum Brands brought with it more brands for the aquatic and pet division.

Over the years, the company consolidated its position in the retail and specialist channel, delivering more quality products.

At the beginning of 2015, with several brands introduced in the market (among them FURminator, Natures Miracle, Trixie, Eheim, Boyu), Catherine Mora Moya, daughter of Mario Mora Parra, joins the team.

AQUAMUNDO's commercial structure becomes more professional and with this, Grupo MOR is created, in order to have an umbrella brand that groups AQUAMUNDO and all its representations.

Along with the creation of the group and under the General Management of Mario Mora Moya, in 2016 parallel market lines in the area were investigated, which led to the signing of a representation agreement with the Alinatur dog and cat food factory in Spain. This with the aim of introducing the Bravery brand, Super Premium dry food, to Chile.

The following year, the company made one of the most important decisions: to bring its experience and development, and the set of brands it represents, to the Peruvian market, founding Grupo MOR Peru.

In 2018, along with the search for international pet brands, Grupo MOR ventured to create its own brands in order to expand the business and thus Naturalistic was born, the brand aimed at the production of snacks for dogs and cats that currently has sixteen different codes.

Today, Grupo MOR has more than eighty employees, generates imports from North America, Europe and Asia. It is accompanied by more than twenty representations, markets its products to retail stores and specialist channels, and is present in Chile and Peru.
